Posts: 14 (09/03/2008 12:49:27) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I've had this idea in the back on my mind sometime wondering what would happen in the Transformer's universe (G1) if the Decepticon Matrix was real. I know this answer really depends on each persons personal view of transfandom, but I felt it was an aspect rather rarely touched upon. So, does the Decepticon Matrix really exist hidden from all Transformers or is it really an idea concocted by the Quintessons? In all the stories I've read, I've only seen one writer make a hint that it does exist somewhere. Truthfully, I believe, in my version of things, that the Decepticon Matrix does exist. I see it as the Matrix of Power, rather fitting for the Decepticon race who are Warriors. Whereas the Autobot Matrix is the Matrix of Leadership and associated with wisdom. However, unlike the Autobot Matrix, the Decepticon Matrix has never chosen a bearer. Those in earlier times (long before Megatron), who have tried to take up the title of bearer, met a fatal end or went mad. Think of the phrase, "Absolute power, corrupts absolutely." Harnassing the power of the Decepticon Matrix has some very specific requirements and users pay heavy consequences even if they are found worthy by the Decepticon Matrix. That' s my brief view of the Decepticon Matrix. Now I'm curious what everyone else thinks. The probability of someone watching you is directly proportional to the stupidity of your actions.

But I think your theory is interesting. I was just thinking about this part you wrote, "Harnassing the power of the Decepticon Matrix has some very specific requirements and users pay heavy consequences even if they are found worthy by the Decepticon Matrix. " Can you imagine if it was real in the cartoon, and Galvatron (being overly emotional and insane) had gotten his hands on it? Now that would have been pretty wild, to put things mildly! I also like the idea that it does not choose its bearer. I think some interesting things could be done with the idea.

That doesn't mean that there couldn't be a Decepticon one, of course! I don't think the Quintessons know anything about it; their ploy was just a trick, with no known truth behind it. Realistically, one has to wonder why the Decepticons never tried to acquire some equivalent of the Autobot Matrix (well, going by the cartoon, they probably did and failed as they did with every other McGuffin!). If the Autobot Matrix combines the wisdom of all Autobots (or all previous Autobot leaders), then would there be a way to combine the collective Decepticon wisdom? I suppose the closest we've got to the overall theory is that episode where Megatron combines the powers of all his Decepticons for a one-on-one battle with Optimus Prime. But really, a Matrix equivalent to the Autobot one would require long term usage to be equal to its counterpart. Is it possible that the Decepticons are too inherently selfish to co-operate with a gizmo that will benefit their successor more than themselves? Hence choosing to steal the Autobot Matrix, with its pre-established power, instead. I think what I'd like to see with such a concept is the Decepticons attempting to create a Matrix of their own. Possibly they could try and subvert something of Unicron's power for this purpose--he's pretty danged ancient after all. Also, considering the Autobot Matrix appears to have links with Vector Sigma (also ancient), then the Decepticons may want something similar for their Matrix. As for my ideas about the Decepticon matrix, it might be real or a Quinteson ploy, personally I don't know. But the closest I ever seen to a true Decepticom matrix on the cartoon was The Heart of Cybertron that was seen in the episode Microbots (which happens to be my favorite episode of all time for any TF show, which I can describe in two words Drunk Decepticons!) But the only true Decepticon matrix I have seen is in the current IDW G1 comic, which does the exact same thing as the Autobot matrix does, but it was created by Unicron to destroy Primus. The Dark Matrix (which it is called) is currently held by Nemesis Prime in the wacky other dimension.

Posts: 15 (09/09/2008 14:43:26) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I havent' kept up to date with the latest IDW comics, so I didn't realize there was an finally someone doing something with a different version of the matrix. When I thought about it sometime ago, I guessed that IDW would be the first to really tackle that subject, since they've been bringing in little used characters and concepts into the comic strip. XD That episode is fantastic, even if Percy didn't get an apology at the end. (Which bugs me, because even Cliffjumper can bring himself to apologize, but eh.)

I don't really know the origin of the Transformers in generation 1, if they were created by Primus or by the Quintessons, but apparently there were no factions when Primus created the first thirteen and gave the matrix to whoever he did(story gets convoluted there too, but I think he gave it to Prima first? Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this). They were all just cybertronians, so therefore it would stand to reason that any worthy Transformer, no matter what faction, could bear the matrix and use it successfully. Right? I got this idea more from the IDW verse than G1 though, since in Megatron:Origins Megatron just seems to create the Decepticon faction.

But it also said in the DW comics (somewhere) say that Decepticons had an unique quirk that separated them from the average Cybertonian. And I think it's that simple quirk that the Creation Matrix/Autobot Matrix/Matrix of Leadership would reject a Decepticon and warp them as seen in the G1 cartoon with Scourge and the Marvel comics with Starscream and Thunderwing. (Is that the right name???) But all and all, it just depends on what TF series that you follow.

In other words, Scourge has an unique connection to the supernatural and the Matrix sensed that and Scourge somehow tapped into that with the Matrix.
