Book Sighting: "Transformers: More than Meets the Mind"... |

Believe it or not, the Transformers franchise has gotten one of those compilations of essays regarding philosophy in various elements of popular culture. I
know of at least ones for Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so I wouldn't IMMEDIATELY call this an outlier (and yes, the introduction does admit
that this started out as a marketing ploy). I didn't do much more than very brief skimming, though. Maybe someone else can take the time for a more
thorough look.

Got it just before I went on vacation and read it on the trip. As expected it was pretty biased (Autobots are always uber-good, and Decepticons are
uber-bad) and it mostly focused on G1 and the movie, with an occasional quip from Beast Wars (Don't remember if they mentioned Unicron Trilogy). Decent
enough essays, and the essay "Megatron, Fascist Philosopher" made me laugh, but I only have one major issue...

I'll be keeping my eyes open for it, I'm curious now. Any idea where I might find it in Canada?
Oh, Sunstreaker. He's not exactly a good representation of Autobot ideals, but he is proof that not all Autobots are good.
Sarcasm is intellect on the offensive, wit
is cultured insolence.
I enjoy both. |
