I don't particularly like that review. I'll admit that it's hilarious, but it's also very...Well, I try to keep my mouth shut when I've got nothing at all nice to say.
Maybe it's because I'm from the FMA anime!verse fandom - where we've got trans-dimensional Nazis, time-traveling rocket designs and fraternal twin-esque body doubles to try and reconcile with sanity (not to mention canon) - but I didn't think RotF was all that bad. Yes, it could have been done better (as proved by the first one). No, I'm not sure what happened to it. Yes, there is more than the generally recommended dose of fridge logic. Yes, some of the humor could be taken the wrong way if you're so inclined (I wasn't offended in the least, but I tend to assume "foolishness over malice" when it comes to things like the twins. Of course, I didn't actually realize they were supposed to sound black until I heard all the hullabaloo about it. I just thought they sounded like most of the kids in my neighborhood when they're trying to act cool.) No, it's not a masterpiece. But STILL. It is not quite the steaming pool of boiling acid y'all seem to be making it out to be.
For what it is - a senseless action flick full of big robots, big boobs and big explosions - it's not bad. The animation and effects are gorgeous. The music is lovely. The acting is very nice. There's a lot of very cool camera work. And I for one liked all the fanservice - both human and robotic. I liked the humor too, even if I did cringe at the wrecking balls. Of course, those last two are largely a matter of taste (which I apparently lack).
So yeah, that's my bit. I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to be rude - I can see where you're coming from. I just like to play devil's advocate, I guess.
